Seo For Small Business Websites

If you’re doing seo for small business websites you are probably keeping a close eye on every move that Google is making. You’ve probably heard about the latest algorithm shift and wondering what the likely-hood is of your website being penalized.

Well here’s the deal as far as the latest mass hysteria concerning Google goes…

Supposedly websites that are over-optimized are in danger of taking a hit in their rankings.

OMG!

Over Optimized?

You mean that Google is going after websites that are bending over backwards to give it what it wants?

Not exactly… so you can exhale now.

The kind of sites that Google is targeting are the kinds that are still practicing the ancient black art of keyword stuffing.

I’m talking about those sites that stuff about 30-40 keywords in their meta tags.

By the way you can spy on just about any websites keywords by right clicking your mouse and clicking ‘view source’. Just look for the code below the <head> tag and just before the </head> tag.

It will say <meta name=”keywords” content=”keyword,keyword,keyword,keyword, etc, etc.

Some seo’s are still trying to maximize their keyword density by shoving their target keywords into the content in each paragraph whether it makes sense or not.

There are still a large majority of websites that have thousands of links pointing back to them from only one source.

You also have sites that are largely populated with spun content that doesn’t make a lick of sense.

This is the kind of stuff that has gotten the attention of the Big ‘G’ and the only people who really have to worry about are the ones who are generating revenue from it.

A lot of their spreadsheets are going to start reporting negative spikes in earnings.

If you’re doing seo for small business or for CPA, listbuilding or any other type of affiliate marketing, all you have to do is focus on providing the best quality content you can for your readers.

Keyword density isn’t so important anymore ever since the idea of LSI (latent symantec indexing) was introduced. As a matter of fact LSI made it even easier to write and rank content.

Day 30 – My 30 Day IM Diary

Well this is it! Day 30 and I’ve created 4 four products instead of the 10 I originally set out to create.

My newest creations are Traffic Mafia and IM Success Factor X.

Traffic Mafia was created using a very ingenious interface called Membersnap. This very cool software allows you to set up membership sites in under 5 minutes. No joke!

Actually it took me less than that. Anyway I’m going to give you a full write up and video tour shortly so you can see what it’s all about.

The other product IM Success Factor X is a really cool product that will show you how I and many other top marketers get stuff done.

But let me recap some of the events that took place over the last thirty days and what I did to create and launch these 4 new products.

First of all I don’t know if you remember but the month started off with me getting the flu and pretty much knocking me down for about 3 days.

Then my laptop crashed without any warning and for about a week I was pretty much scrambling to use my wife’s computer to post my updates as well continue working on my projects.

After a few days I was able to get my nephew to totally revamp and resuscitate my desktop to the point that it functions waaay better than my dead laptop.

In between I stayed focused on my goal of creating 10 products that addressed real needs within the internet marketing niche.

Not only did I create 4 out of 10 products but I also created individual buyer and prospect lists along with pre-written autoresponder sequences to continue selling and communicating with my subscribers.

And finally I started driving traffic to my sites using the system that I outline within the Atomic Article Traffic product.

All in all not a bad month considering the unexpected situations that occurred and throughout all of that I still managed to spend time with family and take care of all the everyday life stuff that we all have to deal with.

So that was cool and everything like that but let’s put all that aside for a moment and let me ask you a quick question…

What if you could create just one new product per month for the next 12 months? How much more income do you think you would be generating?

What I’m saying is that each month you create one new product and within that month you promote the heck out of that product and just repeat the process 12 more times.

Day 28 – My 30 Day IM Diary

O.k. so here we are with only two days left and I’m pushing hard to get my next 2 products completed. The goal was to have 10 completed for the month but If I end up with four I’m still ahead of the game.

You know why this is so important?

Because like most people who get started in the internet marketing game, I started out as an affiliate.

I used to work extremely hard at creating content and building dozens of websites all for the purpose of promoting someone else’s business.

Now don’t get me wrong there is some good money in it, but at the end of the day… the product creator will always walk away with the lions share of the profits.

In addition to that they will have obtained the necessary credibility as a result of everyone else’s efforts to easily sell all kinds of backend offers to the buyers list that many affiliates like myself helped them get.

Even at the bare minimum, if you just created a little product that helped people solve one particular problem, you could literally make more money and for a much longer period of time than just promoting someone else’s products.

Now you may have heard of Kelly Felix and his Bring The Fresh membership site and you’re probably thinking: “well he seems to be doing pretty well with affiliate marketing”. And yes he is BUT… even he has his own products.

This was by no means meant to be a rant, but it is very important that you understand the value of creating your own products and building your own brand.

That’s what I teach my subscribers and that’s what Easy Info Product Cash is all about.

Over the last few days I’ve been steadily adding messages to my autoresponder as well as writing articles and using my Atomic Article Traffic system to crush the search engines and promote my websites.

Well there’s two days left. Two projects that are about to be completed and a whole lot of life stuff to deal with.

Day 24 – My 30 Day IM Diary

Well it looks like I’ve got 6 days left to create 8 more products and I can tell you right now that it’s not going to happen BUT…

I will have 2 more done before this experiment is over, so that will give me a total of 4 products created this month.

So what was the point of all this?

The point is that unless you set a goal for yourself and hold yourself accountable to that goal, you really can’t expect much to happen.

It’s also safe to say that life and every other little thing that can get in the way… will get in the way BUT…

It’s not about what happens to you, but rather it’s more about HOW you handle what happens to you.

Make sense?

Creating products is really not that difficult and if you check out Easy Info Product Cash you’ll see just how easy it really is but you have to have something in place first and that is…

A plan.

You’ve got to sit down and define what it is that you want your business to focus on. Because until you do, you stand a good chance of falling victim to this…

This is a little something I call “Inbox Mayhem” because that’s exactly what it is. If you’re inbox is crowded full of offers and you haven’t yet figured out what your business is going to focus on… you’re going to find yourself spending a ton of money on all kinds of stuff until you either quit, go broke or redirect.

9 Days Later – My 30 Day IM Diary

Wow, a whole nine days later! You probably thought that I might’ve given up on my goal but… not so fast.

The last time I posted, I told you that I was coming down with a cold. Well that cold turned out to be an all out FLU that kicked my behind for three days.

As irritating as it was to deal with I managed to get thru it but then Murphy stepped in. You ever heard of Murphys’ Law? In a nutshell it states that pretty much anything bad that can happen will happen.

So to add insult to injury, no sooner do I get over the flu and actually finish creating the first of my ten new products, the screen on my laptop goes black.

No matter what I do to get the computer to boot up, it doesn’t. So I place a call to tech support and after a very brief conversation they tell me that based on my description of the problem… the motherboard is fried.

You can probably imagine that I was a little bit less than happy to hear that. Now what?

Well as unfortunate as this is for me it’s actually turning out to be good news for you. How’s that?

Well one of the most important things you will need to be able to build a profitable internet business is a good computer.

And my awesome nephew along with his superhuman computing genius has agreed to let me share with you what you can do to avoid this kind of thing from happening to you.

This guy knows some pretty cool stuff and has worked as a computer technician for a large corporation, so this will actually work out to your benefit in a big way.

As I mentioned a moment ago, knowing how to make money from the internet means absolutely nothing when you’re computer crashes.

Anyway that’s the latest, but there’s more because I’ve already started my next project and I’m happy to say that I’m more than half way through the process.

Day 5,6 – My 30 Day IM Diary

Wouldn’t you know it?

It isn’t til you decide to hold to a strict schedule of posting that something happens.

What happened you ask?

Well just to give you a little background in terms of my location, I live in the warm and wonderful State of New York and we’ve barely had a winter at all. As a matter of fact it pretty much snowed by accident back in October. Other than that, a few cold days and now it’s Spring.

Yippee! or so I thought. Silly me, I thought I would get out of the Winter season without so much as getting a cold much less the flu and guess what?

For the past two days the temperatures have been around 75 – 80 degrees and somehow I managed to catch a cold that feels like it’s trying to become a flu.

Unbelievable right? You’re telling me.

Anyway since I’ve been trying to fight it, I’ve continued to work on my sales copy for my first product. It’s just about done.

One other thing that happened recently that I want to tell you about was that my websites had been hacked.

Not only were my websites hacked but until the problem was fixed I literally had to stay away from making any adjustments in my Cpanel to deal with it.

However…

The hosting company that I use is Hostgator and I’ve got to tell you that these guys are no joke. The moment I noticed that my sites had been tampered with, I called them up right away and I made that phone call at about 2:30 am.

Their staff is very professional and courteous and got on it right away.

The situation was handled within 24 hours along with an explanation as to what the hacker had done and what I could do to protect myself from future situations.

These guys provide top notch service at rock bottom prices and I highly recommend them to anyone serious about starting an internet business.

Well that’s what’s happening right now.

I wanted to share these thoughts with you today to hopefully help you to understand that with every goal that you set for yourself, there will always be some kind of obstacles that will present themselves.

A commitment to yourself and to your readers and subscribers is what will help you to overcome the hurdles and make it to the finish line.

By the way, creating 10 new products that tackle specific business building components of internet marketing and making them available to you by the time 30 days is up, is the finish line.

Day 3 and 4 – My 30 Day IM Diary

Hey, what’s up? You’re probably wondering why I combined day 3 and 4 right?

Well that’s because on day 3 I didn’t do anything. I did get a chance to skim a couple of offers in my email but that was about it.

Here’s what happened…

In the morning I had to wrestle with my 7 yr. old to get him out of bed so that I could get him to school on time, but he didn’t go quietly.

I barely got him to school at the time he’s supposed to get there and then I had to stop and get my morning cup of joe at the neighborhood 7eleven.

Gotta have my cup of joe.

After that I had to  run some errands like food shopping, getting the car washed and stuff.

Gotta keep the wife happy. Happy wife = happy life. Well at least I try to anyway:-)

Next thing you know, it’s almost time for lunch… gotta eat. No. really. I gotta eat.

Before you know it, it’s almost time to go back and pick up my son from school but in order to do it without getting run over by the other parents who like to rush the door when it opens I have to be there at least 10 minutes early.

Then it’s time for homework, cooking, a little t.v., a quick bath and off to bed.

Actually this is how it is everyday, but I shared this with you so you wouldn’t think that all I did on a daily basis was sit at my computer and do internet marketing.

So that brings us to day 4.

Today I finished creating the first product and before I can give you the link, I need to write the salescopy and create the salespage.

My goal is to have this done later on tonight or tomorrow.

Day 2 – My 30 Day IM Diary

Before I tell you what I’ve done today, I have to tell you that on Sunday, I didn’t do anything involving internet marketing.

Instead what I did was take my son to the park to throw the football around.

The weather was gorgeous and it would have been a shame to let the day pass.

So that’s what happened on Sunday and I tell you this because you don’t need to neglect your family in order to create a profitable internet business.

Now let’s talk about today Monday 3/19/2012.

Today I spent time adding more information to my first product and it’s starting to come along rather quickly.

Here’s a little tip you can use to make creating products in your business a little easier…

Learn from existing products in your niche what you need to know about the subject you wish to write about and then go out get some results with what you know.

Once you’ve done those two things you will be in a position to write from your own personal experience which helps you to easily create your own unique selling proposition.

In addition to adding more content to my product, I’ve also gone ahead and started writing emails for my autoresponder series that I will use to build a relationship with my traffic and remind them of my product offer.

I’ll get into that a little more soon, but that’s what I’ve done today and I am pushing to have this product done in the next one to two days.
